Volunteers At Heart Of DadSpace

This week is International Volunteer Week (2–8 June 2025), and we’re taking this opportunity to shine a light on the incredible people who have given their time and energy to help DadSpace grow and thrive over the last year. Without them, we simply wouldn’t be able to do what we do!

Why Our Volunteers Volunteer

Most of our volunteers were first drawn to DadSpace as attendees—looking for support or simply friendship. Over time, they felt inspired to get involved and give something back. Volunteering offers them a chance to make a difference in their local community, to be part of something bigger than themselves, and to help create the kind of support network they wish was around when they needed support in their lives.

It’s not just about giving time—it’s about building each other up, creating friendships and growing in confidence. Seeing first-hand the positive impact we have on other dads and families, it’s extremely rewarding. That's why we do it.

Local Legends: Our Session Host Volunteers

A huge thank you goes to our dedicated volunteers who host our Monthly DadSpace meet-ups in towns across Kent:

  • Pete, in Ashford (2 years)

  • Kenny, in Faversham (Coming up to 1 year)

  • Michael, in Medway (Volunteer since the beginning & Co-Director)

  • Scott, who supports as a co-host in Maidstone

Each of these dads brings consistency, warmth, and leadership to their sessions, creating safe, welcoming spaces where other dads can talk, listen, and feel supported. Their commitment is at the heart of local DadSpace communities, making a difference, one conversation at a time.

Behind the Scenes: Our Dedicated Admin Team

Equally vital are our incredible volunteers who work behind the scenes:

  • Rob, who keeps our finances and DBS process in check

  • Vee, who brings our posters to life with his graphic design skills

  • Kieran, brand ambassador who represents DadSpace at business networking events

  • Mark, co-host on our upcoming "DadTalks" Podcast

Their contributions may be less visible to the public, but they’re absolutely essential to everything we do.

Why Volunteering Matters

One man cannot do it all and two men can only do so much... Because of the time and dedication of our volunteers, our Directors are able to focus on shaping the future of DadSpace, growing awareness and delivering exciting new opportunities for our community:

  • Denver is able to focus's on organising and promoting new events, recruiting & training volunteers and is rapidly becoming the "Fathers Voice", shaping the face of parenting services across Kent and Medway.

  • Michael can concentrate on reporting our impact to local councils, writing policies, documenting & promoting events, showcasing the community we have all created.

All of our volunteers make DadSpace more than just an idea—they make it happen. They create the space where dads can show up as themselves, support each other, and grow stronger, together.

Appreciation For Every One

To every one of our volunteers and the many other people that help out in so many ways: Thank you. Your passion, your time, and your belief in the community we’re building make's all the difference.

If you’ve ever attended a session, shared one of our posts, or benefited from a DadSpace event — you’ve felt the impact of our volunteers. This week, join us in celebrating them!
