This weekends session was back at The Albion Inn and we were all keen to hear from ADHD coach, Charlie of www.peacefulpeas.co.uk
Although we had a guest speaker booked, we always make sure there is an opportunity to speak and be heard in private before they arrive for the second half of the session.
We welcomed more new faces and value every father that comes along to talk, listen and share their valuable experience with the group.
We always say that DadSpace does not provide the answers. Answers flow from within and the Dads around you in the room. Sometimes you just have to hear your situation out loud to make things click and give you the courage to make a positive change.
There is support out there, don't be afraid to try it, it might not be there for ever.
Recently we have heard about a number of mental heal groups closing their doors due to lack of interest/attendance, which is very sad to hear indeed.
Most notably a local group called “Chew The Fat” who started out around the same time as DadSpace, is sadly closing its doors. We have followed their journey on social media and it’s very similar to ours. While it is humbling to continue to see new members walk through the door at each DadSpace session, we also value the long standing members who come along to support others.
Our main support sessions will always remain free. New and old members are welcome to attend whenever they feel they need support, but please remember that attending to support others when you are in a good place is just as valuable and rewarding mentally, as this is the essence of DadSpace, we provide “Brotherly Support Between Fathers”.
Guest Speaker Charlie shares her story.
The second half of the session heard Charlie’s story about how her daughter was diagnosed with ADHD. Charlie was determined to know more about the disorder to support her daughter and eventually help other families in the same situation. Much of this experience resonated with the group and lots of tips and ideas were shared within the room.

There are other short self help courses about meditation and exercise so feel free to explore and give them a go. Why not suggest ideas for other useful courses and sessions you would like to see here?
Thank you to Charlie, the members who attended and The Albion Inn for hosting our session.
Denver and the DadSpace Admin Team work very hard behind the scenes and are all very proud of how far we have come in 2 years. We aim to be here for fathers in many years to come.
If you have ever been on the fence about attending DadSpace or any mental health groups near you for that matter, why not dive in! Make some new friends and connections, see what a difference it can make to your mindset and positivity before any more close their doors for good and we lose these valuable spaces.
Our next event is our first evening Walk and Talk, to be held on Friday 8th September. Starting at the Musket Brewery, check out all the details on our Event Calendar
