This sellout event on Friday 12th July was a huge success. DadSpace gathered outside Repton Connect Community Centre for an exciting evening of Bushcraft and Brotherly Support.
Huge thanks to Craig from Black Wolf Survival www.blackwolfsurvival.co.uk for sharing some in-valuable tips on fire starting and basic survival in the wilderness.
"We're dads, how hard can it be to light a fire? With 1 match. In a strong wind. Only 2 squares of toilet paper. And a hungry group of people watching you, all adding to the pressure..."
We take for granted the comforts of modern day life and it's easy to underestimate how quickly situations can change while in the wilderness, and life. The best piece of advice was to be prepared and think outside of the box. Look for ways to repurpose everyday objects and resources.
There is a metaphor for life in there somewhere and this simple exercise was quite an eye opener.
Be prepared, know that DadSpace is here when you need it. Repurpose negative energy into positivity, make a change.

"DadSpace is proud to be able to listen. And to host so many unique and engaging events like this. I believe this is the beginning of a very exciting friendship with Black Wolf Survival." Denver King - Director DadSpace
Needless to say, the fire pit and the Brotherly Support went hand in hand. Which lead to this event being one of our best sessions yet. DadSpace does not have all the answers, but we do provide safe, engaging spaces that create opportunities for fathers to open up, talk and most importantly, be heard.
"Well it was a much more profoundly powerful evening than I was expecting! Thank you to @dadspaceuk for having me. A really enjoyable evening discussing #bushcraft and #survival in the company of some truly awesome guys. I hope this is just the start of my involvement with groups like this. The power of the campfire and its ability to bring people together and talk is something that can never be underestimated." Craig - Black Wolf Survival
COMING SOON - Continuing our popular DadTalks feature...
Craig also shared his life story, surviving in many dangerous environments around the world aswell as his battle with PTSD and lyme disease. Watch out for that recording soon...
