We shared the success of our recent Scafell Pike fundraiser, which smashed our ambitious goal and currently sits at £2,055!

Thank you to everyone who helped raise these funds! If you missed the event, you can experience the scenery for yourself on our YouTube channel!

We discussed plans for how we intend to spend these funds and provide many more exciting opportunities over the coming year. There are still a few days left on our Just Giving page if you would like to donate!

We are pleased to announce our first DadSpace funded gym session which is free to all DadSpace website members. Sign up for free today!

Sessions like this with access to a personal trainer could normally cost around £10 per person. We are pleased to be able to offer this initial physical gym experience FREE of charge. Future gym sessions will be included in our new £5 monthly donation option on our website.

FREE gym session is 12noon on 10th June, at Fitter Stronger Faster Gym. Full details on website and event poster.

Next we held our usual circle and discussed having another child. How circumstances such as finances, age, health, current siblings and emotions can make having another child a big and important decision for both parties, especially later in life.

This lead onto the importance of communication in relationships. How we all get “busy” in our daily lives, making time for social media and work without remembering why people get together in the first place… Because they love each other and have an emotional connection.

As children grow up we often forget to embrace spending time together, going away or having intimate time which was so important in the creation of a relationship. If anything, as successful parents, we earn the freedoms that come as your children grow up. Take those opportunities to bond again and accept offer when grandparents offer to look after the kids.

One useful technique that was mentioned today, was to bullet point positive things you would like to make into good family habits. Such as, time away from phones, budgeting for / planning events in advance or having the whole family round for dinner at the table.

We also touched on children’s meltdowns and how adults reactions can make or break the situation. Staying calm is hard to do, but rather than reacting negatively to the melt down itself, take a breath, count to 10 to remain calm and focus on a positive activity that will re-engage them and lead them out of frustration. Easier said than done, we know, but its easy to forget that we are the adult in that situation and need to demonstrait we can manage our emotions too.

At the very end we were joined by local mum, and professional family portrait photographer, Claire Roads.

Every month, Claire writes a feature about a local business women and their small businesses. To celebrate Father’s Day this June, Claire interviewed Denver about his journey of starting DadSpace. We will share this article with you when it’s released. Todays photograph was taken by Claire.
